Na verloren toss begonnen we met batten. En dat was maar goed ook, want het veld liep als een trein en de aanval van ACC was niet geweldig. Iedereen profiteerde volop en velen gingen retired. Wij brachten maar liefst 188 runs in de boeken, al waren daar helaas wel erg veel wides bij. Deze worden niet overgebowld, maar leveren wel steeds twee ‘strafpunten’ op. Freddie 15, Wouter 27, Babette 11, Floris 25 batten prachtig. Totaal 188 runs in 24 overs!
Ons bowlen was in één woord fantastisch. Weinig wides en een ongelofelijk aantal wickets. Om ACC te laten oefenen, bowlden we de 24 overs uit. Jan Schueler (3 voor 8) blonk uit met zijn left arm toverballen, 3x de midstump geraakt! Maar wat dacht je van de andere bowlers: Gizzer (1-9) en Alyan zuinig, Babette in twee overs niet één run tegen, Floris 1-14, Wouter 2-9. Mathijn Overmeire bowlde keurig en nam zijn eerste twee wickets, gefeliciteerd! Verder een prima vang van Floris en een prachtige run out van Freddie en Babette: clean pick up, bliksemsnelle ingooi. Na de wedstrijd nam Patrick ontslag als coach omdat hij jullie niets meer kan leren — maar dat was maar een grap!…
VCC U11 rise above themselves v ACC: 188 -21
After losing the toss, we batted first. Great, as the outfield was fast and the opposition’s attack wasn’t great. Everyone made the most of it and many batters retired. Our mammoth score of 188 unfortunately included a lot of wides which are not re-bowled but are worth two penalty runs apiece.
Freddie 15, Wouter 27, Babette 11, Floris 25 batted beautifully. 188 runs in 24 overs!
Our bowling was fantastic. Few wides and an incredible number of wickets. To practice a bit we went on and let ACC bat the full 24 overs. Jan Schueler (3 voor 8) excelled with his left arm magic; he hit middle stump three times! And how about the other bowlers: Gizzer (1-9) and Alyan were economical, Babette did not get a single run against her name, Floris 1-14, Wouter 2-9. Mathijn Overmeire bowled nicely and took his first two wickets, congratulations! Furthermore Floris took a good catch and Freddie and Babette caused a wonderful run out: clean pick up, lightning fast return. ACC 21 all out. After the game, Patrick resigned as a coach because he could teach you guys nothing more – but that was only a joke!…
