2 June 2019 – On this beautiful Sunday morning VCC’s U15 team went to Rotterdam to face VOC, our fourth match of the competition. VOC won the toss and put us in to bat for the first innings of the match. Haris and Nirav opened the batting for VCC, both batting smartly to get VCC off to a good start. Unfortunately, Nirav got bowled out for 29 in the seventh over, breaking the opening stand of 46. Tanveer came into bat at number three and Haris and he had a partnership that took VCC to a good position. Before long Tanveer got retired, scoring his quickfire 61 off only 36 balls. In at number four was Sachall who got given out LBW for four runs. Hidde came in next to partner Haris, who retired after scoring a great 60 a couple of overs later. Ben went out into the middle to join Hidde but got bowled out for a duck. Elliot came in at number seven and Hidde and he finished the innings off nicely with a couple of boundaries. Hidde finished on a helpful 23, Elliot on 8 and VCC 219 for 3. VOC needed 220 runs off 30 overs to win the game.
Jacobus and Ahan opened the bowling for VCC and made an impact straightaway. Jacobus got two quick wickets within the first six overs, leaving VOC on 13 for 2. Ben and Emma kept it tight during the next couple of overs, not allowing VOC to get going. VOC had a couple of small partnerships which were broken first by Sachall with Tanveer taking the catch. Hidde and Nirav bowled the next couple of overs and Nirav got two quick wickets, both bowled. Tanveer got another wicket as he returned to the attack, and Jacobus got the final wicket when he knocked over the stumps for the third time. VOC ended up on 148 all out.
Result: VCC 219 for 3 from 30 overs; VOC 148 all out from 23 overs. VCC wins the match!
