VCC3 vs Qui Vive
Date: 13th Aug 23, Qui vive (Ams)
VCC3 won the toss (with a last-minute change of call to heads) and elected to field first. The qui vie pitch is remembered notoriously for being a bouncy one. However, it did not turn out to be as expected and not as we felt with a few throwdowns before the start of the match. Navjot bowled economically with a wicket in his first spell. Fahad made his debut with vcc3 and was deprived of a close call lbw in his first over. Pranav was welcomed with a boundary off a loosener. He then picked up a crucial wicket with a bouncer about in the same region as the boundary, but a squarish positioned Ahsen took a handsome catch. I agreed with Pranav that it was a planned execution ;). Their steady partnership was rocked by Farhan’s yorker, and he picked up another a few overs later. We continued picking up the wickets but qui vive’s number 3 batter held on and got them far to 170 all out in 37.1 overs.
Bhaskar opened with Mohsen, with the former caught out on the 3rd delivery. This would have given them a positive feeling, but what ensued turned out to be dauting. Mohsen (72 in 46 balls) hammered their bowling to get to his half century. Tanveer, supported very well and made 37. Naman and Jenagan gave in handy runs and brought the curtains down with brisk unbeaten scores. VCC3 chased 171/3 in 22.5overs, an emphatic win.
The competition is stiff with the 2nd team at the footsteps with the same points and an uncanny same net run rate.
