Great Orange cricket party at VCC; May 22 and 24 last chances!

The NORDEK T20 TriSeries with the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland have so far been an unprecedented cricket success with a fantastic atmosphere and some 1,500 spectators. On Saturday, the Netherlands defeated Scotland 167-126. On Sunday, Ireland won a blistering game by just one run difference. On Friday, May 24 is the final encounter, Netherlands – Ireland at 11.00 at VCC. Scotland (thirteenth in the world) and the Netherlands (fifteenth) generally keep each other fairly balanced. First batting, the Netherlands made 167 runs, with VCC’s Michael Levitt (43 runs) as the top scorer and Vikram Singh with a blazing 39 off 18 balls. Scotland seemed to hang in the ropes soon after falling by three wickets, but good scores from Berrington (39) and Cross (49) brought the Scots back into the match. However, bowlers Doram, Van Beek and Kingma, who became Man of the Match with four wickets, struck just in time. Scotland did not exceed 126 runs.

Ireland

A day later, the audience was presented with an absolute classic. The Orange allowed Ireland too many runs in the closing stages of the Irish innings (150 total). Thanks to O’Dowd (33) and De Leede (32), Orange was reasonably on course to top this, but it lost a number of wickets and seemed hopeless when it needed to make 20 runs in the last six balls for a victory. Tim Pringle, however, hit single runs and two sixes. Two runs off the very last ball would be enough for a tie. It became a single and the Irish came away with the scare in this cricket spectacle. On Wednesday, May 22, at the Groene Zoom in The Hague, the Netherlands plays again against Scotland (at 5 p.m.) and on Friday, May 24, the Netherlands plays against Ireland at 11 a.m. Admission free.
