HCC did not receive the expected opposition from regional rival Voorburg CC.
Victor Wiesemeier 75 (53) laid the foundation for a good score (182/6), where VCC did not come close despite contributions from Cedric de Lange, Tom de Leede and Jamie Stemmet.
VCC (143 all out) had no adequate answer to the good bowling of Tim Korthals Altes (3-17). HCC’s Wiesmeier (75 with seven sixes) laid a good foundation for the home team with bold batting.
182/6 was the end result; a reasonable target, but achievable provided one of our top batsmen put a price on his wicket and made an unbeaten 80.
It was not to be; the most promising partnerships were broken – mostly by our own doing – making HCC the deserved winner.
Over the years, the youth teams of VCC and HCC have developed a fine rivalry.
