Over the years, VCC and HCC have established a fine rivalry. Internationals Viv Kingma and Michael Levitt returned injured from eight matches with the Dutch national team in Scotland and were missing from the Voorburg side. Noah Croes and Ryan Klein did play.
From time to time VCC had a reasonable grip on HCC, but the Hagens fought their way out from under the pressure, resulting in a solid 286 on the scoreboard (Clayton Floyd 51). Forty extras, including 25 (!) wides, must not have been in the Voorburg battle plan beforehand.
In the Voorburg reply, VCC’ers Kaplan and Cedric de Lange seemed to “cruise,” until an LBW appeal on Kaplan (41) was honored. Then Cedric de Lange (37) went run out. The rest of VCC’ers saw no chance to take these hits. VCC was all out for 201 and left 46 balls unused. Floyd took four wickets for HCC.
