It was a long and bumpy road. From the original idea to the first balls that were bowled on December 11, it took some three years. But it was worth the wait! The old nets are a thing of the past and there is now a beautiful indoor/outdoor construction with 4 nets. Via social media, everyone has been able to see how the old nets were broken down and how this beautiful tent construction was built along the way.
We have deliberately not yet officially opened the new addition. On the one hand, the season was not good. Too cold. Covid-19 also threw a spanner in the works to celebrate with a large group of people that we can now actually play cricket at Westvliet 365 days a year. But it is definitely the do an official opening in 2022.
A huge thank you goes to Victor van Koolwijk, Tom de Grooth, Tim de Leede and Dorith van der Laan who have been the main drivers of this project and who have received support from many volunteers. In addition, there are of course the private and corporate sponsors who have contributed financially to make this possible.
The beautiful photo gives an idea of how cool the hall looks, the video below also gives you a chance to look inside. Each VCC team gets a slot in the week to train there. In addition, the hall can also be rented by members and external parties. There is a serious demand, so if you have plans, respond quickly to indoorcricket@voorburgcc.nl (Dorith van der Laan).
