Qui Vive wins the toss and starts fielding
Atif Aziz and Nick Price open the batting. After a difficult start for the opening bowlers with a lot of extras, our openingsduo have a partnership of 47 runs before Nick goes LBW. Atif shortly follows after being bowled. Unfortunately, our captain Abbas cannot match the 106 runs against Ghausia and after 4 runs is catch and bowled. Dinish Joshi, our veteran with an honest heart follows without making any runs. He walks because he thinks he is caught behind. It turns out that the ball did not hit the bat. Qui Vive appeals each and every ball and I literally mean every ball. This can be frustrating for the batsman and the umpire…
Faisal follows after given LBW and can walks back after 11 runs. Rashid follows Faisal and can make a steady 23 runs before he goes out. Ahsan makes 10 runs before being caught at point, but not before he hits a giant sixer. Fortunately there was Sono who went 38 NO and made sure we had a defending score of 189. It was an inning where 55 extras were given by Qui Vive and our batsman performed under average.
Our opening bowlers Faisal Janjua and Yasir Hamid are in a hurry and it does not take long or the first wickets begin to fall. Faisal gets his 1st wicket by bowling inswingers and outswingers. The batsmen have no clue and after an opening score of 32 runs the first batsman falls when he is bowled by Faisal. Batsman No. 3 also does not know what is happening and is bowled shortly after that by Faisal.
Yasir gets batsman no.4 bowled by being quick and accurate on the stumps. If the bowlers are in the zone, the fielders will go into this flow and soon batsman no.2 is caught by a fantastic catch by Ahsan Siddique. Our secret weapon Floris van Hoogdalen ensures that Qui-Vive’s dream of winning this match goes down the drain. They are all out after 105 runs!
- Faisal: 10 over bowled, 33 runs conceived and 4 wickets taken!
- Yasir: 8 overs bowled 35 runs conceived and 3 wickets taken!
- Floris aka Pinkie: 1.4 overs bowled, 3 runs conceived and 3 wickets taken!!!
Our bowling attack was responsible for the victory!
A special thanks from the players of VCC 2 to Chris Picket for umpiring this match 😆
