On Monday evening, June 15, a part of the VCC board welcomed Mr Klaas Tigelaar and Mrs Nadine Stemerdink, respectively mayor and alderwoman for sports of the municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg.
After the welcome (without shaking hands!) and a short introduction, they sat down on the terrace of the clubhouse. There was extensive exchange of ideas and information, while looking at the training of the U17 and the judokas / karatekas that are currently using the field on Monday evening.
The Corona crisis was of course a topic of discussion, as were the possible plans of the province and the municipality of The Hague for the Vlietzone. Furthermore, where after all these years the alderwoman is already familiar with cricket (although she honestly confessed that she has not yet fully mastered the rules), this evening the mayor was also initiated into our beautiful sport: the rules of the game, the technique and the tactics , but also the family character, the associated values and the many cultures that enjoy cricket with each other and keep the club running. A nice visit and as the alderman rightly remarked on Twitter: #wewinnenveelmetsport (we win a lot with sport).
