New youth targets to support development across all age groups

From the summer of 2025, Voorburg Cricket Club will be introducing targets across the Youth Programme. Each age group will have different objectives to complete by the end of the season. These range from the youngest players learning to bowl off the correct foot with a straight arm to the older performance groups aiming to reach specific fitness and skill levels, alongside softer skills such as tactical awareness and leadership development.

The targets have been introduced by the Technical Committee to provide challenge and clear goals for youngsters within the VCC Youth System. All players, from recreational cricketers to prospective national team members, will have general targets to work towards. These shared targets will also be a focus during junior coaching sessions. In addition to these group goals, players will receive individual targets tailored to their development.

As well as helping young players reach their potential, the introduction of these targets will also benefit Dutch cricket more broadly. Players and coaches will be able to track and record progress from Under-11 all the way through to the transition into senior cricket after the Under-17 level.
