U12 wins ‘nailbiter’ against Bloemendaal with the last ball

At 9 AM there was still much dew on the field, but the team discussed themselves what they were going to do after winning the toss. They chose to field first so had to bowl with a wet ball. Bloemendaal batted well and unfortunately we bowled too many wides. On the other hand we had a nice run out and a magnificent catch in the outfield by Thom van Brakel. Bloemendaal reached 113 runs, a lot! Freddie took 1 for 20 and Floris was economical with 0 for 5 in 3. Julia too bowled excellently.   Freddie (12) and Josh (2) gave us a good start. Floris batted beautifully, hit a six and three fours and retired at 25. Alfie hit a fantastic six as well as a four, and Wouter was also in top shape with 24 (4 x 4). Jasper was unlucky, but is now training  the forward defence!   In the end Wouter was allowed to come back. Unfortunately he was given LBW, but took that sportily. Thom played a super innings and remained not out with six. Floris, who was also allowed to come back, had to get the chestnuts out of the fire as we say in Dutch, on the very last ball of the match. One run to win!! Huge cheers from his teammates when he struck a magnificent straight drive for four. What a game!   Liz, Andrew, Pauline and Mike many thanks for your help.
