VCC down at HCC

Drie wickets voor Flip

Without its four internationals who played at VCC with the Netherlands against Canada, the Kaplan who left for South Africa and the discontinued Engelbrecht, VCC did not have much to contribute against HCC. The internationals played through the end of August partly coincide with the Top League schedule. The first-batting HCC got off to a hard start with Tonny Staal (49) as usual the main aggressor. It wasn’t until 76 that the first wicket fell. VCC recovered; where Mees van Vliet had eliminated the top order with a wicket and three catches, legspinner Philippe Boissevain took care of numbers 6, 7 and 8. HCC was bowled out in 36.1 overs for 195 by a VCC attack without Viv Kingma, Ryan Klein, Gavin Kaplan and Michael Levitt. In the Voorburg attack, Philippe Boissevain (3-18), Tom de Leede and Mees van Vliet did good business. With an average very young team, it was not obvious that VCC would chase this easily. Consequently, that did not happen. Undisputed Player of the Match Daniel Crowley added five wickets to the 67 runs he had made earlier in the day. Only Floris de Lange and Mees van Vliet registered scores above 20. VCC was all out for 114. HBS leaves the points in Amstelveen VRA played without Vikram Singh, Shariz Ahmad and the injured Teja Nidamanuru, but still had no problem with HBS, which itself had to miss Wesley Barresi and Kyle Klein due to international obligations and was all out for 143 (De Villiers 61). Ben Fletcher bowled strongly for VRA and batting South African Johan Smal had a top day with 50 not out off 37 balls. Standings Top Class championship pool: 1. Punjab and HCC 12-16, 3. VCC and HBS 12-15, 5. VRA 12-14, 6. Hermes DVS 12-11.
