With the World Cricket Championship in the United States being played during the Dutch competition, reigning national champion VCC is missing four players: Kingma, Levitt, Engelbrecht and Ryan Klein. Without these internationals, VCC could not hold its own against HBS, which in turn had to miss internationals Wesley Barresi and Kyle Klein: 287-276.
VCC won the toss and let HBS bat. That did not work out well, as thanks in part to a missed catch when top bat Walbrugh was on just six runs, HBS came out to a high score of 287 runs. South African Walbrugh ended up making 97 and his compatriot De Villiers 82. In the Voorburg attack, Mees van Vliet held on proudly with four wickets for 37 runs.
Despite fine scores from Nehaan Gigani (71), South African Gavin Kaplan (57) and Noah Croes, VCC ended up twelve runs short of the win.
