VCC men’s team can prolong national title

Vier wickets voor Flip

The men of Voorburg CC still have a chance to prolong their title thanks to a win over HCC.
In The Hague it became 241-192 in a game with changing odds.
Three of the four VCC internationals had returned from matches against the U.S. and Canada in August.
The fourth – Viv Kingma – was injured.
At HCC, international Daniel Doram was back in the starting lineup.
VCC had a shaky opening.
Michael Levitt (13) seemed to wonder if he was caught correctly, but had to depart.
With half the overs to go, Ryan Klein (top scorer with a convincing 67) made an error of judgement.
He had just beaten Jed Wiggins for six and that tasted like more.
Tonny Staal picked up the outside chance at the boundary.
Cedric de Lange saw Michael Molenaar go run out and killed himself for 44 patient runs.
Philippe Boissevain (38) and his brother Laurens (25) made a smooth partnership of 41 runs for the seventh wicket.
Thanks in part to their efforts, VCC reached 241 runs. Innings HCC Ryan Klein got Leonard to play the ball into his own wicket and Michael Levitt bowled Tonny Staal (46).
Crucial was also the wicket of top scorer Jed Wiggins (58) which came to the name of Mees van Vliet (2-41).
After that, the Hague batsmen – forced to do so by an increasing requested run rate – tried to hit the balls high out of the field, but kept getting caught.
Michael Molenaar took no less than four catches in the outfield and Philippe Boissevain took a fantastic catch on his own bowling.
After his good batting performance, this ‘Flip’ (4-27) also took four wickets.
VCC will take on VRA next weekend.
The winner of that match will face Punjab Ghausia in the national final on September 14. Women’s team Quick to final The women’s team of Voorburg CC, like the men reigning national champions, had to beat Quick twice to reach the final against The Hague All Stars.
On Saturday, they succeeded in a good match with high totals (Iris Zwilling a career-best monster score of 141).
On Sunday, however, VCC did not reach beyond 162 all out in 37 overs.
Quick passed that score in just 26.4 overs (Robine Rijke 76 not out) and can now try to clinch the national title against The Hague All Stars soon.
