Babette de Leede (25) takes over the captaincy of the Dutch women’s cricket team from Heather Siegers, who wants to focus fully on recovering from an injury that sidelined her this summer.
Babette de Leede: “First of all I would like to thank Heather for her leadership on the field, which has brought us a lot of success, such as wins over higher ranked teams. I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead this Dutch women’s team, which has a lot of potential, especially at a time when women’s cricket is booming internationally. Our main goal is to qualify for the next T20 World Cup in 2026. That ‘journey’ will start in the summer of 2025 with a European qualifying tournament.” Babette is a member of VCC and plays in the European winter in Cape Town at Western Province.
