As VCC was in a winning flow by winning the last two games, we were eager to win the third match in a row against Hermes DVS as well. For Hermes it was the other way around as they lost the last two games and needed to turn around the sinking ship.
It was a cold and wet morning. The day started pretty well with some warm coffees and a good warming up. Flo walked to the middel and flipped the coin which logically he lost again. Hermes thought of putting the runs on the board especially with the weather that could change around and decided to bat first.
Sajjad and Riccardo started pretty well but we recognized early on that the wet pitch was made for the spinners. Especially as one of the openings batters made his half century and VCC needed to change something. Captain Flo let himself bowl and together with boef they tried to take the wickets and break some partnerships as Hermes did manage to score some proper runs and played some good cricket shots. In the end boef and Flo managed to get both one wicket. However, the scoreboard kept ticking and Fo needed to do something. He called Nehaan, our second leg spinner, to action and he managed to take four wickets and finished with figures of 60-4-9!!
Hermes batted out the 50 overs and got to the score of 240-8-50. VCC only made 200+ runs against Concordia so we were pretty insecure about making this score. However, during lunchbreak it started raining and raining even more which in the end led to the match getting abandoned.
