9 juli 2016 – Op naar de mooie Sparta-velden in Capelle (zie foto). Eerst batten ging ons deze keer niet zo goed af, getuige de tussenstand van 30 voor 5, maar er werd dan ook netjes gebowld door de ‘Antwerp Indians’. Aarav (17) and number 7 Stijn steadied the ship and made 25 for the sixth wicket, followed by Annemijn (7) and Stijn who added another 29 for the seventh wicket. In came our U12 debutant Ahan who batted bravely and really well to add another 23 together with Stijn who finished on a well made 32 not out. VCC 110 all out (= for 9 as we had only 10 players).
We started off brilliantly claiming two early wickets including a sharp catch by Thijn at fine leg. Unfortunately Pranay and Tanay were not given their full 4 over spells which could have put a bit more pressure on Sparta. A boy called Dev profited well making a solid 51 retired. After only 15 overs Sparta surpassed our total. Although we were outplayed this time, the team spirit was excellent and our running between the wickets was exceptional. Well done everyone!
