It was a sunny day on 8th of July when VCC Ladies played their first 40 over match against Red and White on the first pitch at VCC. The day kicked off with Annemijn van Beuge winning the toss, electing to bat first.
In the first innings, Babette de Leede opened the batting with Rosalie Lawrence. After a few unfortunate dismissals, Eva Lynch delivered an impressive performance, scoring a total of 29 runs.
After a challenging first innings, the team showed great resilience and determination when fielding. Sarah Asmussen’s bowling was truly commendable, securing two wickets alongside a stunning diving catch. Captain Annemijn van Beuge displayed a remarkable performance claiming 4 wickets whilst offering the team solid support and guidance. Victory was in sight when Fleur Roscam Abbing saved the day with a splendid catch sending away Red and White captain Heather Siegers. The game finished with an excellent catch from Wicketkeeper Rosalie Lawrence, bowled by Eva Lynch resulting in a celebratory win.
Overall, despite an intense game beneath the scorching sun, we achieved a great outcome, showcasing a brilliant team effort.
