The weather and the bowling was hot at Kampong. Captain Annemijn lost the toss but we would have batted anyway so she came to the crease to open with Jamieson. Kampong’s bowling was excellent from the first over and with a slow outfield it was difficult for our batters to score runs. Jamieson played a perfect pull shot which was heading for the boundary but a great catch saw him out for 8 runs. Annemijn and Aryan came together and worked some nice singles but the pressure took its toll with Annemijn (6) being run out. Just played some nice defensive shots to good bowling. Aarav (8), Thomas (no 8), Sid (no 4) and Aryan (8) all did a great job fighting hard for their runs. At the end of 20 overs our score was 83 for the loss of 5 wickets. Between innings we talked about how were capable of winning the game if we fielded and bowled well. Our plan was not to give away many extras runs in wides, no balls and byes and to bowl stump to stump. In the end we did just that. Everyone bowled well to keep the runs down. 1 wicket each to Aarav, Annemijn, Thomas, Sid. Aryan bowled with pace and bounce conceding only 6 runs off 4 overs. Our tight bowling combined with only 5 wides and 4 byes meant that at the end of 20 overs Kampong finished 71 for the loss of 4 wickets. A great win for VCC U12 2 against a very talented Kampong team. Many thanks to Kampong for providing an awesome lunch. Coach Mark
