25 May 2014 — A beautiful sunny day greeted us at the picturesque Bloemendaal cricket club on Sunday. We played with seven as James was ill. Captain Aarav lost the toss but it didn’t really matter as we wanted to bat anyway. Aryan and Aarav did a fine job opening the batting. Aryan is developing into a fine batter, striking the ball all around the ground for 30 retired with 6 powerful boundaries. Aarav (21 with 2 boundaries) also provided great support. Jamieson (27 not out with 3 boundaries and 1 huge six) kept the runs flowing as did Sid (30 retired with 4 boundaries). The result of all this great batting was a mammoth total of 182 for the loss of only 1 wicket. With such a large total on the board we were always confident our bowling and fielding would be good enough. Pick of the bowlers was Jamieson with 3 wickets for 7 off 2 overs finishing off a fine all-round performance. 1 wicket each to Just, Varun and Sid. We bowled too many wides (20) but with so many runs on the board we had the luxury of giving plenty of overs to our less experienced bowlers. Tanveer bowled some great leg spinners and with more practice to develop his consistency, will be difficult for any batter to face. Bloemendaal finished their 20 overs with a score of 122 for 6. Highlight of the day was a great catch by Just at mid-wicket, showing that his catching practice at training is paying off. Many thanks to Rohaan for scoring and to all parents for your support. See you at practice. Keep up the good work team 2. Coach Mark
