Aryan Dutt: 30 runs and 2 for 2! 
Heads or tails?… VCC is blessed to have so many talented U12 cricketers. This season we have entered 2 teams of fairly even standard into the competition. The VCC U12 -2 team made up of Aarav, Michael, James, Jameson, Just, Aryan, Varun and Sid arrived at VCC for our first game of the year against the talented ACC team. It was great to see captains Jamieson and Shreyas (both Dutch Lions and friends) chatting and smiling as they posed for a photo before the toss which was one by Shreyas, who elected to bowl. Aryan opened the batting and got our innings off to a great start, scoring 32 not out with 5×4. Jamieson accelerated the scoring nicely also scoring 32 not out with 5×4. The off season coaching /training both boys received was reflected in their good technique and confident batting. We got a little wobbly after that with some poor running between the wickets and shot selection but Michael (12 not out) and Varun (8 not out) did the very important job of batting out the entire 20 overs, securing valuable extra runs to take our total batting score to 129. Our strong bowling lineup made the run chase difficult for ACC. Everyone bowled well and we only conceded 10 wides, no doubt due to the extensive training we had already done during the winter. Aryan bowled full and straight to be the pick of the bowlers taking 2 wickets for only 2 runs from 3 overs. Aarav also bowled well (3 overs, 2 for 28) and made a crucial run out hitting wickets side on. Michael, James, Just, Jamie and Sid all bowled well to keep the runs down and good fielding created pressure on ACC, resulting in 2 further run outs. ACC all out in the 18th over with a total score of 94. It was very pleasing to see the high standard set by the VCC – 2. We look forward to improving our game even more throughout the season.
