VCC U12 batting too strong for an improved Bloemendaal

1405 thijn de tovenaar 27/6/14 — After our first loss of the season to ACC last week the VCC U12 2 team were keen to get things back on track against Bloemendaal last Saturday.  We decided to bat first with Alex (4) and Thijn (16 retired) getting us off to a solid start.  Both Alex and Thijn showed good technique against improved bowling from Bloemendaal.  Thijn played some lovely pull shots and as he grows and becomes stronger he will hit lots of boundaries.  He is showing lots of promise for his first year in U12.  Aryan (11) looked classy playing a beautiful cover drive for a boundary.  Varun (25 retired with 4 boundaries) showed that he is developing into a fine all round cricketer.   Jamieson (40 retired with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes) hit the ball solidly all around the ground and finished in style with 2 sixes over mid-wicket.  Aarav (27 not out with 4 beautiful straight drives) and Sid (1 not out) finished things off and we galloped home to an impressive score of 163 for the loss of 2 wickets. With such a big total on the board, we were always confident our bowling could get the job done… and it did.  2 wickets each for Aryan, Jamieson and Sid and 1 for Varun who also took 2 nice catches.  Highlight of the bowling was Jamie running into bowl and tripping over flat on his face.  Well bowled!  Bloemendaal all out for 118 in the 20th over.  Job well done boys.  Thanks to Shishir and Jeroen for scoring. Coach Mark
