The indoor competition has started for our youth teams, here you can read a summary of the indoor season so far for our U15’s. The KNCB selected 4 Sunday afternoons to play an indoor cricket competition. A great initiative to give our children some more opportunities to play cricket. Last year November a one-day tournament was played with VCC U15 as winner. So the standard was set for the new competition. The first round was already held in January with two matches for our VCC U15 team. The team consisting of Philip, Alejo, Stefan, Tom, Ger, Aarush, Sri and Manoj played against Salland and Kampong. Two opponents who were both new to the team. In the first match against Salland the guys had to get used to the game again, which did result in the loss of quite some wickets. But with strong batting power, the match did finally result in a win. The second match against Kampong was won as well.
Therefore, we went into this weekend unbeaten to Utrecht to play the 2nd leg of the tournament. This time Manoj, Steve, Stefan, Alejo, Aarush, Harsh and Miraj did make up the team. The first match was a great match against HBS. Both teams played excellent cricket. In the end, VCC was just a bit stronger with an end score of 105 against 83. The next match against VOC was not too difficult. VOC is building a new young team, but is missing some experience. The end score of 116-42 did tell enough. The last match of the day was against Salland. Salland will join this year as well the outdoor competition and showed to be an asset to the competition. They started very well, but they lost too many wickets due to excellent wicket keeping of VCC (even 4 wickets in the last over!!) to win the game: 108 – 81. So after 2 match days and 5 matches, our boys are still unbeaten! Keep going boys!
