VCC U15A continues their winning streak against HBS

It was the second home match of the season and the opponent this time was HBS. VCC won the toss and elected to bat first. Farhaan and Alejo were all set to open the innings for VCC. Together they made a quick start as both looked pretty settled in the middle. VCC´s run rate was constantly above 7 and that just proves how good our openers did their job. After making a steady start Alejo fell for 21 as VCC was 74/ 1 after 10 overs. Cedric walked in as number 3 and supported Farhaan who was batting well at the other end. He reached his 50 in the thirteenth over and was retired for 59 soon after reaching the milestone. The stage was set for the middle order to show what they have got as the score was 132/1 after 15 overs. Shirsak came into to bat at 4 as he and Cedric paced the innings. After a blistering start Cedric was caught for 20 off just 16 balls. After he went back to the dugout few quick wickets fell for VCC as Carlijn made 14, Aldino made 5 and Tom unfortunately could not open his account. VCC was 175/ 5 after 23 overs. Miraj walked in at 7 and supported Shirsak till the end who made a decent 56. At the end VCC´s score was 224/5 an excellent performance by the batters.

Now it was all up to the bowlers and they did not disappoint. Francois was on fire as he took two quick wickets in his first over. Tom didn´t take long to join the party after he dismissed Azam for just 4 runs. VCC was on top as HBS was tottering at 6/3. Wickets were kept falling for HBS as they collapsed for just 41 in 11 overs. Aldino had an important wicket of Joris and Carlijn too had a wicket. At the end Shirsak finished things off by taking 3 scalps in 2 overs. VCC won the match by a huge margin of 183 runs. VCC was ruthless through the whole game and showed a very dominant display on the field. Finally the evening was concluded with a great food provided by the Nel Family. The team is now eyeing on to the next against Excelsior!!
