July 6th – The sun was out on a fine day at Voorburg Cricket Club. VOC won the toss and elected to bat the first innings on a bouncy astro pitch and a damp outfield that was drying out. VCC’s left-arm bowler Benjamin Harbidge opened the bowler from the Club’s end and from the other end the stable bowling from Ahan Sinha. The opening bowlers reduced the VOC batsmen to 10 – 3. Next to come on was the pace bowling of Nirav Kulkarni collecting the 4th wicket from a great catch from Hidde and the spin bowling of Shirsak Banerjee keeping the run rate down of the batsmen. Sachall Rehman, Hidde Vrieze, Emma Lawrence and Crispijn Trugg all with good overs with some good keeping from Elliot Hammond saving runs behind. For the 5th wicket a direct hit from backward point . Nirav and Haris Mahmood coming on in the later overs to take the last wickets of the VOC batsmen, ending the innings in the 25 overs meaning that VOC finished their innings with 117 runs all out.
VCC then opened the batting. Haris and Shirsak who had a steady and strong start creating a platform for the them to push on from. Haris who batted wisely throughout was unfortunately run out for 47 off 70 balls. There was a solid innings for Shirsak having 40 runs not out who was playing some stunning shots against the attack of the VOC bowlers and with Elliot coming in at number 3, he faced off the final few balls to help VCC complete the run chase of 118 in 26 overs and won by 9 wickets.
