On a hot Sunday VCC Zomi’s arrived at Qui Vive cc. After welcome drinks VCC Zomi’s were ready to
start. Captain Colin won the toss and -as we expected- he decided to field first. He handed the new
ball to Charu in an attempt to quickly beat the opening batsman. They did not manage to score
quick runs, but withstood the pressure. On the other end Colin found better line with good results. Qui Vive wickets start falling with regular intervals and Colin was in top form. Charu happily carried on at the other end and kept the run rate down.
Qui Vives 4th and 5 th wicket partnership looked bit scary, but when Dinesh got the ball in his hand
he broke the partnership with magic slow ball. Wicket keeping was shared by Rob and Martin.
Both had some stunning catches and all bowlers got wickets. Qui Vive were all out on 153.
After the lunch VCC Zomi’s sent Lennert and Rob to open the batting. They opened the batting well
but did not last very long. 3rd wicket partnership between youngster Thomas van Beuge and Marek was promising. In no time VCC where close to 100. Qui Vive broke their partnership and new batsman Shiva came at the crease. Marc Nota joined him soon after and they both played some wonderful shots on the
concrete hard outfield. The ball was traveling like a trace of bullet when on a score of 152 Shiva lost his wicket. Subsequently, VCC lost 3 quick wickets and things started to look tight, although we still needed only 2 runs for victory. Charu padded up quickly to join Marc. When Marc got the strike again after a few balls that were defendedf well by Charu, he smashed the ball to the cross boundary line. VCC scored 156 and finally after some shocking moments VCC won the match on a very hot Sunday.
