On Sunday September 18, a group of VCC players had planned to play in four teams the first edition of the Yasir Khan memorial, in commemoration of the late Yasir Khan who died last month at the age of 27.
Yasir was a beloved cricket friend and a very kind young man who inspired all the people around him with his love for the game of cricket. In that spirit a tournament was organised by some VCC 3 and 4 players and with the help of a few sponsors.
Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperating a lot, but the spirit in the clubhouse and on the ground remained high. Around 1 pm a lovely lunch was served and Habib, Yasir’s brother, was given a nice memorial with the names of many, many VCC memebrs on it. The true die-hards even played something that looked a bit like cricket in the pouring rain.
All in all a great day to look back upon and we hope it can be the start of an annual tradition.
